Sochi Olympics

On Friday 7/2 you will be writing an essay. The topics will be about the Olympics in Sochi, Russia and about Russia's laws against homosexuality.

These articles should be used to inform you a bit about the situation and help you write the essay on Friday 7/2

Short Story

Hey Guys.

On Thursday 14/3 you are going to write your horror stories during class.
This assignment is about being creative as much as it is practice for the national tests, so the short story can be about anything you wish as long as it's a horror story. You can find "Other People" by Neil Gaiman here if you would like to read it again for inspiration.

Your horror story should:

• be written on paper to prepare you for the national test this spring. 
• be between 300 words to 700 words long.
• contain 3 of the words you picked out last Tuesday. (underline them)
• have a title, beginning, middle and an end as all stories should; so try to plan ahead. 

Remember - You should share your 10 sentences with Pernilla on drive before the lesson on Thursday 14/3.

Here is a list of thing to help you improve your letter.

You may use the dictionaries in the classroom and Norstedts ord and Merriam-Webster on the webb. But I do not want you to use Google Translate, since this will not help you become a better writer.

How to write a formal letter

1. Write the date.
2. Use Dear Sir/Sirs, Madam/Madams/ Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms Smith or To Whom it May Concern - if you do not know who to adress the letter to.
3. First paragraph - The introduction.
Start with presenting yourself and state why you are writing.
4. Second paragraph - The body.
Here you write your complaints. If you are upset with three things during your holiday, let each thing be in one paragraph. Give examples here and use your imagination.
5. The last paragraph - The Ending
Here you suggest a solution.
6. End with Yours Sincerely or Yours Faithfully

Things to think about when you write a formal letter.
Never use slang.
No cursing!
Use surname.
Do not shout - try to be polite.
